GOD WANTS TO SAVE YOU
Luke 24:1-7 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
It is always a good time of the year to reflect on the loving kindness of GOD toward mankind.
It does not take long to see that in the world around us dwells much evil. Just look at the news every day. Most times than not we hear of crimes of unprecedented proportions, killings, rampant drug plagues in our cities that are ravaging our youth, abortion on demand that hides behind the guise of woman’s rights, but all it is human sacrifice, baby boys and girls being massacred as their blood cries out to GOD for justice. People who hiding their sin behind the guise of genetic make up and act contrary to the way GOD created them are invoking their right to establish same sex marriages in our nation. Other religions who clearly stand on the side of evil and death commit atrocities by not only driving planes into buildings but also committing suicide by strapping bombs to themselves and blowing up people who do not agree with their views. A religion, which has not only inflicted many casualties in our nation and across the world but that now is casting a spell on this nation and the world and it is being accepted as a religion of peace, while causing all others who stand against it to appear as the ones who are evil. Let us not talk about domestic violence, women and children being abused and killed in atrocious ways. We can go on and on and we might even think, yes, there is a lot of evil in the world, but I am not that bad and thank GOD you are not.
However, these are some of the reasons why GOD sent His only begotten Son into the world to live a perfect sinless life and then to suffer and die an atrocious violent death on a Roman cross.
There is a much more personal reason that does not have to do with other people and their evil deeds, rather with our own.
In the beginning, GOD created mankind, note I said created not evolved, He created them male and female, we were created in GOD’S image, He created them perfect without sin and created to live forever, and they had a perfect relationship with GOD their creator Genesis 1-2. Then mankind, through Adam and Eve’s disobedience to GOD’S direct commandment, fell into sin and this affected their eternality, their relationship with GOD Genesis 3.
Because of Adam and Eve all mankind from that time forward would be born in sin and with a nature bent on rebellion against GOD and wanting to live independently from GOD and His ways. Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.
Just check our babies and young children how they become angry when they do not get their way. Certainly, we do not have to teach children to lie and misbehave, it’s in them, it’s in us all and as adults we do not really change, if anything we become worse. Psalms 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
Job 15:14-16 “What is man, that he could be pure? And he who is born of a woman, that he could be righteous? 15 If God puts no trust in His saints, And the heavens are not pure in His sight, 16 How much less man, who is abominable and filthy, Who drinks iniquity like water!
This disobedience, rebellion, and independent will to live apart from GOD and His ways is what gets us in trouble with GOD. This is called sin nature; everyone is born with it. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
This sinful nature separates us from GOD. You see the Word of GOD, the Bible, teaches us that all men are sinful and it is our sin that separates us from GOD and causes eternal death. Rom 6: 23a For the wages of sin is death.
Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.
No one on their own does seek GOD and His ways. Romans 3:9-20 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. 10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” 13 “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; 14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 Destruction and misery are in their ways; 17 And the way of peace they have not known.” 18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” 19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
If by the Law is the knowledge of sin, is it not clear why the devil is attempting to hide and annul the Ten Commandments in America? Without the Law there is no knowledge of sin, and although the human conscience tells us we are doing wrong, we suppress it, If the law is eliminated then the knowledge of sin will become quenched and the human conscience seared. Without the restraint and conviction of the law, men do what is right in their own eyes, and if everything goes then who needs a savior to save us from our sins.
This is a sobering passage; it shows that in GOD’S eyes we are all sinners and that we deserve His punishment for our sin and rebellion. You see we have a dilemma here, if no one seeks GOD then how can anyone be saved from GOD’S wrath and justice that He must exercise our sin? Romans 1:18-19 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
GOD took care of this problem by being the One who reached down to us through His Son JESUS CHRIST.
He is the only One who can save us from GOD’S wrath because He endured it in our place.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
John 3:16-21 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
By committing ourselves by faith to the mercy of GOD through JESUS CHRIST His Son, we can have peace with GOD and the forgiveness of our sins and the replacement of our sinful nature that separates us from GOD.
Romans 4:24-5:1 It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification. Rom5: 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, NKJV, in fact He will not only forgive us our sins He will makes into new creations and give us GOD’S nature
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
As you see we all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, we all deserve eternal separation from GOD, but GOD who is rich in mercy sent JESUS to restore mankind’s relationship with GOD.
Romans 5:6-11 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
How can we be sure that this is the only way to GOD? JESUS Himself said in
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
The question is, “do you believe it?” Our LORD did not just die for our sins He rose again to justify us before GOD and to give us His everlasting life and power.
Note that He is our LORD first and then our savior. We must recognize Him as both and if we do see what the Word of GOD says in Romans 10:9-12 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
As you meditate on these truths our prayer is that today you will commit by faith to and believe in the LORD JESUS, please remember though that He also said that we must repent of all our sins, this means we must exchange our life of sin and brokenness and rebellion for His righteous and eternal life.
Mark 8:34-38 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
Walking with JESUS will not be an easy road but it will be the only one that leads to salvation Matt 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
JESUS said He is the gate for the sheep.
John 10:7-9 Therefore Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.”
JESUS IS RISEN INDEED AND HE SITS AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD IN MAJESTY.
Revelation 1:17-18 Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Believe in Him, repent and commit your life to Him and you shall be saved. Make Him your LORD then follow Him. May GOD richly bless you.
